Various kinds of gardening tools are required for the maintenance of gardens. Some types of garden tools can also be used for agriculture and horticulture. Some popular garden hand tools include a spade, grass shears, pruning shears, a pitchfork, a shovel, a plough, a garden rake and a garden hoe. Some of these tools such as the plough have been in use for thousands of years. These simple garden hand tools are mainly used for digging the soil, leveling the ground, pruning the grass and/or chopping vegetation. These tools are made of strong and durable materials such as copper, iron and steel. Power tools used for gardening include lawn mowers, leaf blowers, hedge trimmers and mini-tractors. These garden tools perform similar tasks as the hand tools but they allow you to finish the work more quickly and efficiently. Two-stroke engines or powerful motors power many of these gardening tools. Lawn mowers feature revolving blades for cutting the lawn evenly. A leaf blower releases air from its nozzle to clear leaves and debris lying in the garden.
