The first thing that comes to mind when seeing Sony's DCR-DVD7E is that it looks rather like a Discman, but this is of course only because it must make room for a DVD-R, DVD-RW, or DVD+RW to use as recording media. The unit, announced yesterday in Europe, has a 2.5-inch LCD viewfinder on the back, and despite perhaps looking a bit unimpressive, the lens does a respectable 10x optical zoom.

Simply fantastic!

The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this Handycam for the average video taker in the family. Convenient, easy without sacrificing quality.

Wow! A truly innovative videocamera

The Bottom Line: Great for home use. Easy to use and better-than-VHS quality video. My only concern is the LCD only -- but Sony is a trustworthy name.
