The enhanced observation capability of the Papilio binoculars is made possible by a PENTAX Convergent Lens Optical System Engineering (CLOSE) mechanism. The CLOSE mechanism automatically slides the left and right objective lenses toward the center when the focus is fixed at a short distance.

Pros: These binoculars have no competition, at any price.
Cons: They are now in short supply.
The Bottom Line: Buy the 6.5x21 Papilios as soon as you can.

Pros: No eyestrain close focusing to 1.5 ft - unique. Excellent optics, quality and price.
Cons: Ease of use in the field could be improved.
