Product Description

Sony Network Walkman NW-HD1, the new music-only player powered by a 1.8-inch hard drive, enough RAM to provide 25 minutes of skip-free playing, and an impressive 30 hour battery life. While initial reports mention that the NW-HD1 will support MP3, WMA, and WAV -- and technically, that's true -- it seems the "support" comes via the same old Sony trick of converting everything to ATRAC3 on the fly. That still could put some consumers off as it will not link directly with some download music sites. Still, this is the one they're counting on to make a dent in the iPod's dominance, it's got a couple of problems, with the ATRAC3 and probable lack of WMA DRM files.

Sony Network Walkman NW-D1

Date of Review:  Sep 21, 2009
Review: I actually have two of these because i accidentally crushed the screen of my original one when closing the car boot door. The NW-D1 was the standard of MP3 players a couple of years back before the iPod became big.

It boasted a huge 20GB...

Not perfect but pretty close!

Date of Review:  Jan 31, 2005
The Bottom Line: Gorgeous player that holds about 200 CD's in highest audio quality while fitting inside the palm of your hand. What more can you possibly ask for?
Review: Introduction

I have always been in love with portable music and since my first portable cassette player I have worn out an entire selection of various Walkmans and Discmans (Discmen?).

It didn't take long until I fell in love...

Disappointment!!!

Date of Review:  Oct 5, 2004
The Bottom Line: This product should not display along with other mp3 players. sony is trying to make their own file formats. Stay away from sony's portable audio produts.
Review: my friend just got this HD1 player from circuit city, and it was a pure disappointment. first there is no usb port on the player, since this player is thin and small. It is on the charger. which mean, you need to carry a charger with you to download...
