Never played a R.E. game before
Date of Review: Jan 11, 2008
The Bottom Line: Don't bother with this game, especially if you don't have the File #1 version.
This was my first Resident Evil game and the only one available at Best Buy, so I got it.
I don't like the controls, not even having any other R.E. game to compare it to. I hate that viewing the map doesn't pause gameplay. I hate that the few bullets you're given are gone so fast and it is almost impossible to find more ammo. I hate that it isn't 2 player when it should be very easy since there are at least 2 players in every mission. They could split screen it if they had to.
It is hard to aim, hard to equip, and I never have any idea in the world of what I'm supposed to do. You can hold only a few items at once and while you're trying to figure out what your goal is, you end up dying of the virus you're affected with at the start. The booklet even promises that you'll turn into a zombie once infection rate is 100%, but I just keep dying and the game ends without becoming a zombie.
The partners are completely useless, too. I was in the subway and a partner grabbed a key before I did and wouldn't use it on the door and refused to give it to me, so we just ran around for 30 minutes while I ran out of ammo. I was completely stuck and annoyed.
