My favorite digital camera !

Date of Review: Sep 23, 2006

The Bottom Line:  Great Digital Camera!
I got this camera about a year ago from Wal-Mart. I have had no problems with this camera at all since I've had it. I really like this camera. It's really easy use. I think it is so easy to use that a 7 or 8 year old could use it with no problems. The last digital camera I had would go throw batteries like crazy, but this camera doesn't. That is a real good thing because if you had to buy batteries all the time it would cost a lot of money.

The pictures I have taking with this camera came out great. I even tried driving down the road and take pictures, trying to get blurry pictures and they still came out perfect.

When you turn on your camera there are a lot of different setting to choose from when taking pictures.

These settings are :

Auto: This is for general picture taking.
SCN: This is for action pictures of children in bright light.
Portrait: This is for full frame pictures of people or other subjects.
Sport: This one is for when the subject is in motion.
Landscape: For distant scenery photos.
Close Up: For subjects closer than 28 in. (70 cm)
Video: To capture motion and sound.

I find it the easiest just to set it on auto because it captures almost all the stuff that the other setting capture. I did find the SCN setting was better for outside pictures and the sport setting was better for taking pictures of little kids because they never stop moving.

The camera came with:

Wrist strap
Getting started kit with software
Kodak AA Oxy-Alkaline digital camera batteries
USB cable
Insert for optional Kodak EasyShare Docks

The key features for this camera are:

It has 3.1 megapixel resolution:2048 x 1536 pixels
Quality prints up to 11 x 14 in.
3x optical zoom, 5x continuous zoom, all together it has 15x total zoom
Share button: for printing, e-mailing and organizing
1.5 in./3.8 cm color LCD display
On camera cropping
Auto orientation: On camera picture rotation
QVGA continuous video with audio capture (320 x 240)
16 scene and color modes
16 MB internal memory
Flash (built-in)
Favorites mode: On camera picture sharing
Works with Kodak EasyShare Docks

16 MB of internal memory will hold about 20 pictures or about 35 seconds of video. If you use the favorites setting, it takes up additional space of the internal memory.

Press the flash button repeatedly to scroll through the flash modes to find the one you want.

These modes are :

Auto Flash: When the lighting conditions need it.
Fill: Every time you take a picture, regardless of the lighting conditions.
Red-eye: flashes once to get the subject's eyes use to the light and then it flashes again.
Off: Never flashes

The active flash icon is displayed on the LCD screen.

If you want to delete a picture it is very easy to do. First you press the review button. (To exit all you do is press the review button again). Then you press the delete button and follow the screen prompts.

If you would like more memory for this camera, you can purchase a memory card for it. For this camera SD or MMC memory card will fit in it. You should make sure to put the memory card in right. The good thing is that there is only one way to put the memory card in. If you try to put it in the wrong way, it wont go. So if the memory card wont go in the camera don't force it because this could cause damage. Inserting or removing the card while the ready light is blinking may damage to the pictures, the card, or even your camera.

Make sure if you are going to reformat the internal memory or the memory card that there is nothing you want to save on it. Formatting the memory will delete all pictures or video.

When installing the Kodak EasyShare software, you should first close all the software applications that are open on your computer (including anti-virus software). Than place software CD into the CD-ROM drive and load the software. Than all you have to do is follow the on screen instructions.

Make sure you install the software before you connect the camera or optional dock to the computer. If you fail to do so, it may cause the software to load incorrectly.

When you are ready to transfer the pictures you have taking with this camera. You have to turn off your camera, plug one end into your camera and the other end into your USB port on the computer, and then turn your camera back on. The Kodak EasyShare software opens on your computer and the it prompts you through the transfer process.
