It is clear to see that many of the people reviewing this product is unaware of its intended use. This machine is a great unit and shines when re-recordable media is used for the initial burn. (ie: Hint-It came with a "Re-recordable" disk in the box.
Once recorded on this type of media, move the disk to your computer and use a program like DVDShrink to get the data ready for burning to the final disk. The video and audio are excellent when used as intended. Yes, it will record directly to once write disk, but you risk losing a disk due to several things.
Signal loss, technical problems at the station etc. If you use re-recordable media, you can simply erase it and catch the movie at a later time. Take the hint. Use the same type of media supplied with the machine and it will work a whole lot better.
I've had mine and recorded over 500 movies error free and its still going.
