Linksys, now "officially" synonomous with JUNK
Date of Review: Jul 8, 2009
The Bottom Line: Expensive and unreliable, I am afraid Linksys no longer will be welcome in this household.
As a hard core Linksys user (we're going back to the befw11s4) I thought they're aquisition by Cisco would bring quality into the brand but clearly, I am mistaken.
I am a die-hard "buy cheap, get cheap" kinda guy but lately, Linksys is proving this wrong. I have several friends who run circles around my network with their Belkin and D-Link routers they purchased for just a fraction of what I paid for the newest addition to my network, the WRT110.
Understand the irony here folks, this router is the direct replacement for the WRT54G which was replaced for dropping the wireless G signal on a daily basis which was the replacement for the befw11s4.....and so on and so forth.......there is a distinct pattern developing here folks.
This unit has been on my network for a total of 3 agonizing weeks.....I have been on the phone with tech support no fewer than 4 times and each time it's the same "power cycle the router and your equipment should recognize the router"......to which I reply "this is the reason why I have this unit, I shouldn't have to power cycle anything....."
I have since purchased a (much cheaper) Belkin and have been enjoying trouble free internet access (and less complaining from the family members "Dad, the internet is down again"). I will review the new Belkin after at least 4 weeks of use.
