It works, but it's disappointing.

I bought the Motorola H550 Bluetooth headset on sale this weekend just to see what a very inexpensive (after a $35 rebate) Bluetooth headset would do. It works, but the headset is a bit of a disappointment.

The H550 is an over the ear headset that comes with three plastic hooks. Select the hook that feels most comfortable to you and snap it on the headset. Unfortunately, none of the hooks feel that comfortable to me. They hold in place by pinching the top of your early lightly, but it's annoying to wear for more than a few minutes.

The headset itself is an oblong gray plastic thing about two inches long, three-quarters of an inch wide and about three-eights of an inch thick. It has a fairly large sliding power switch on the large flat surface, and two volume control buttons on the sides of the case. The large power button also doubles as the call answer and hang-up button but it feels loose, and even though it isn't tiny, it's difficult to press, especially since pressing it, tightens the pinching of the ear hook on my ear. The speaker on the headset isn't well placed for hearing well. No matter what headset hook I tried, the placement always seems to not mesh well with my ear canal.

The H550 doesn't have advanced voice processing. In use, I can hear chirpy, echo-y noises and the the callers I spoke to said that I sounded distance and somewhat distorted. For me, the performance was a disappointment.

Setting up the bluetooth connection with my phone was easy, and headset comes with an AC adapter that plugs into a standard mini USB type connector on the headset. There's no USB adapter cable to charge the headset from your computer's USB ports, but you may well have an unused cable with your computer gear.
