For the Coach on the go

by   Klaxon_Oil ,   Dec 11, 2003

Pros:  Price, games, controls, and developers

Cons:  Not enough buttons for fighting games

The Bottom Line:  This is one of the better hand held systems ever created and it's a good investment.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

After taking up Coaching and discovering that most of my time as a Coach would be taken video taping matches. It occured to me that for long bus rides and the break after matches or going through the team break there was something which was needed to break head aches. Enduring my first head ache while filming was anything but fun and there was something needed to break the ice so to speak. The Game Boy was that answer and for so many years it has been the answer for adults and children alike. However, most of my time is still spent studying my guides or making small mental notes for the weeks or next weeks practices. The Game Boy is perhaps one of the best hand held video game devices ever made. Along with it came three games Tecmo Bowl, F-1 Race, and Megaman Xtreme. While it's on a small screen it delivers good visual effects and amazingly well detailed graphics.

Graphics 4/5
While, some may think that the game gear was the better system it was. The only thing that the game gear lacked was that it was ahead of it's time. A key thing in most consoles is that if their ahead of the times most people who are loyal to one system or another will not touch it. But, the Game Boy has a good solid fan base and the graphics are mostly top notch for the most part. Delivering the hand held power of a Nintendo or even beyond with the Game Boy advanced a Super Nintendo. The color graphics are awesome and while they black and white of old games may seem tiring most of them deliver good graphics as well.

People Behind the system 5/5
Capcom, Nintendo, and Squaresoft all give a great deal to this little hand held rocket ship. The Final Fantasy Legend series, is popular as well as the Mega Man franchise, and Zelda. What makes for one of the best add on's is being able to finally travel as well as play deep involving story lines. For this Nintendo deserves the five out of five.

Controls 4/5
Simple is the very best to describe it and easy to use. The control pad, A, B, select, and start buttons are all used. Fighting games though are harder to use and some carry so much more button presses then they should. Which is why despite being a very good machine my attention is focused on Mega man, football, and role playing games.

Over All 4/5
The Game Boy is one of the best video game systems that I've ever had. It saves me from the head aches of having to think about the long and greuling study break. While I still study it gives me the freedom and focus to avoid the head ache and then switch to studying after ten minutes.
