QUIT WORKING ENTIRELY after 1 year 2 months.
Pros:
Worked great for first 12 months in all respects.
Cons:
After 12 months, its dead; NO sound quality or picture quality at ALL.
The Bottom Line:
Avoid Panasonic brand name for DVD recorders, until they prove themselves again by making ones lasting more than 12 months.

Author's Review
QUIT WORKING ENTIRELY after 1 year 2 months.
It worked GREAT for the first 1 year and 1 month. It only got mild use, maybe once a week; it sat in the same place, never moved, no exposure to sunlight or heat sources or magnetic sources, and steady cool indoor temperature. No humidity, non-smoking home.
After 1 year 1 month, it started acting random; it would do random things; sometimes it would record when you tell it, sometimes not. It still played back fine.
After 1 year 2 months, with a blank recordable disk inside, it started making repeated scanning noises, like it was scanning over and over, trying to identify the blank disk. I couldn't get it to stop, and I couldn't turn it off. So I unplugged it, waited 1 minute, and plugged it back in. Then, the EJECT button no longer worked: It would say it was opening the drawer, but it wouldn't. It didn't even try.
Looked on the internet: This is a common problem. Panasonic DVD players in this line just go bad like that a lot. Tried all the "fixes", magic button sequences, both from online and from Panasonic phone line: none worked. Its junk, can't even open the drawer just to play DVDs.
Avoid Panasonic brand until they start making DVD recorders that last longer than 12 months. They used to be a high quality brand.
