Warning - this is a non-technical review. I purchased this monitor while training for my 1st triathlon. I paced my progress by using the monitor for zone training.
As a non-technical, non athlete, I was worried that I'd never actually use this monitor, but have been pleasantly surprised. Althougth, I haven't used the data transfer uplink functionality, I have easily navigated the rest of the features. Setting the zones, and alarms is self evident. It is easy to switch between settings while running. I love the recording feature that summarizes the total excercise time; time in target zone; avg heart rate; maximum heart rate and the calorie expenditure. I use is a stop watch for time trials, and the trending to pace my overall improvement.
Many heart rate monitors are filled with bells and whistles that I'd NEVER use. I also appreciate the small face of this monitor, which doesn't overwhelm your wrist. No one would mistake this monitor for a stylish watch - but for its puposes it is attractive. I have worn it to work and don't receive stares.
The band is adjustable and I forget about it while working out.
The battery has an extremely long life and I found a local watch repair shop that could quickly and inexpensively replace the battery. I've had this monitor for a couple of years and haven't had any problems with the waterproofing. My only complaint is the lack of a back light. My spin class is in a darkly lit room and I am challenged to read the display.
