the king of vacuum cleaners
Date of Review: Apr 13, 2008
The Bottom Line: highly recommended. it is easy to use, has great power, and durability which should last for many years.
i previously had a dyson dc07 all floors. well, i gave the dyson to my cousin who just got his first place, and was in need for a good vacuum, and found sebo.
here is some info on the sebo x4 extra:
bagged upright
10.8 amp motor, rated at 103.8 CFM, and 92" lift
69 decibels
16.7 pound weight
1.4 gallon filter bag capacity
40' cord
has 3 attachments onboard:
1.) crevice tool
2.) upholestry tool
3.) dusting brush
the x4 extra comes with 2 extra attachments:
1.) handheld turbo brush
2.) 9' extension hose
assembly is very easy, and only requires a philips head screw driver, used only to place a holding bracket on the handle, to hold the dusting brush.
changing the bag is simple, just simply open the bag outer cover, and the bag just slides out of its holder, and the new one slides back in. there is also a filter inside the bag housing, that also just slides out. the bag housing will not close if there is no bag placed inside, or if the filter is not placed inside.
there is another filter on the machine, which is also easy to replace. you just recline the machine flat to the floor, and press a release button, and lift off the door, take out the old filter, and insert the new one, and put the door back on. that is it.
the machine has an onboard computer that raises, and lowers the brush on the machine. the computer also warns the user if the brush needs replaced, or if there is a clog, full bag, or brush roll jam. there are 4 lights, here is what they mean:
1.) up - brush roll is raising itself. the light is green during this process
2.) down - brush roll is lowering itself. the light is green during this process.
3.) check brush - the light will blink red, after a 10 second delay, to alert the user that the brush roll is too worn, and needs replaced. the light will continue to blink until the brush is replaced, but the machine will still function.
4.) bag full warning or clog - this light is red, and alerts the user to a full bag, or a clog in the machine. if ignored, after 30 seconds, the machine will shut off, and the red light will blink.
the review. the sebo x4 is the best vacuum i have ever used. when i first got it, i put some dog hair down on my carpet, and ground it in. the sebo picked up all the pet hair in 1 pass. i just moved into another bigger house with wall to wall carpeting, which the previous owner said that the carpet was about 5 years old.
before moving in, me and my wife went to the house to do some cleaning. my wife was vacuuming the living room, and in a very small area of the living room, the machine shut off. she called me in to see what was wrong, and i checked the bag first, and it was filled. the sebo had gone through about 5 or 6 bags in the living room itself.
the carpets which looked like a brown to us, were actually cream colored. the nap looked brand new. after just the living room, we are completely sold on this machine. it also cleans bare floors very well, with no adjustments needed. it cleans edges of floors very well. just one pass over carpets, and barefloors.
the wand is easy to use, it just pulls up and out of the machine. the tools all have great suction when attached to the wand. the wand detaches from the hose by holding a button, and pulling the hose out. the extension hose has a flexible end, and a solid end. the flexible end goes over the hose that is attached to the vacuum.
the crevice tool, and upholestry tool are both recessed in the bottom of the machine on the back. the crevice tool is long, and the dusting brush rotates a full 360 degrees. the turbo tool works great on furniture, and stairs. the machine also reclines flat to the floor, to clean under furniture. there is a orange slider on the bottom right side of the vacuum, on the back. when slid to the left, the vacuum reclines back 3/4.
i keep it set that way, to lift the machine from bare floors, to carpets. to recline the machine back all the way, just hold the handle release, and lower the all the way down. the slder can also be slid right, which allows the machine to recline back fully.
so all in all, this vacuum is excellent. it should last according to my dealer around 15 or more years.
hope my review has answered any and all questions you may have for the sebo x4 extra. thanks for reading it.
