Virginia Golf Nut shoot in the high 70's to low 80's
Date of Review: May 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: Very highly recommended. Distance, forgiveness and price.
I buy far too many clubs (I know I'm not alone). Many of the spontaneous purchases I grow to regret...but not this one. I had the Call 454 driver; a very nice club, with an after market shaft that suited me well. I had read some press about the new Burner and with a price of only $299 I thought I would check it out.
At the simulator at the store I tried it and many other drivers which were significantly more expensive (including other Taylormade drivers), and really enjoyed it. So...I bought it.
Holy cow!! This club slams the ball at least 15-20 yards further than my old 454, plus it is more forgiving!!! I never thought a longer, more explosive driver could be sooooo forgiving. My miss-hits go as far as my former best hits, and stay closer to the center.
The only misgiving I have about this club, is the draw bias, as I tend to over cook and draw the ball anyway on my misses, but due to the consistency and forgiveness of this club minor adjustments to my grip make this problem quite minor.
The other review I read about this club was exactly right when it said not to swing hard. The amazing lightness of the club along with the 46" length will generate the swing speed on its own. Take this club straight back, and straight through and watch the ball zoom to distances you never thought you could get....I'm not kidding.
