Wilson White Head Band - Stop sweat in it tracks!
Date of Review: Apr 3, 2004
The Bottom Line: You get what you pay for! Don't be cheap! Spend the little extra and get the Wilson!
Recently my husband and I purchased a treadmill. My mom bought one about two months before, and while talking she said she had wished she had bought a headband to wear while working out. Remembering this, I picked up two while shopping at Wal-Mart one day before my treadmill arrived.
I sweat. A lot. Call it genetics. Call it being over-weight. Whatever. My mom (who is 1/2 of the woman I am, well, maybe a little less since she is a size 6 and I am a size...none of your business) has the same problem, which is why I said it might be genetics. Our face is the worst, which is why I seldom wear make-up anymore. Why bother if you're gonna sweat and it's gonna run down your face?
Anyway, the Wilson White Head Band was one of several options Wal-Mart had, and was the most expensive one. I went ahead and picked them up, though, because they looked to be a better quality (thicker and wider) and I knew the Wilson name. The others were generics.
There is no size on the Wilson White Head Band but not stretched out they could easily fit my 5 year old and stretched out they would easily slide around a watermelon, so I can safely say one size should fit all. The bands are white terry cloth, similar to a bath towel, with the red and white "W" logo on the front, dead center. The seam is on the inside of the band, where the material is around the elastic, but it is a clean seam. You almost don't even notice it is there when looking at it, and you don't feel it at all. No seam lines left on your forehead! It's about 1 1/2" wide when not stretched.
I wear mine around my forehead, right under my hair line, and under my hair in the back. My hair is a little below my shoulders, and sweat running down my back isn't my favorite thing. Plus the back of my neck gets itchy, so the Wilson White Head Band helps by holding my hair slightly off of my neck while keeping it as dry as possible.
I not only use my Wilson White Head Band for exercising, but while my husband was gone I got a wild hair and starting cleaning like a mad woman! Bird cage, dog cage, aquarium, vacuum, dust, sweeping, the whole nine yards. I was burning up, but my son was sleeping and I couldn't freeze him out. I slipped a headband on and it helped keep the sweat and my hair out of my eyes.
The Wilson White Head Band is very thirsty. I have had no problems with sweat getting past it, no matter how long I was wearing it. The night I cleaned it was on for easily 5 hours and not one drop went down my face or neck.
My only problem with the Wilson White Head Band is that it didn't come with washing instructions. I winged it and washed it like I would a towel. I tossed it in my white load and hoped for the best! It worked out fine! It has held together with no problems and there is no odor at all. I even bleach my whites and still haven't had any problems with drip-age!
Do I recommend the Wilson White Head Band? YES! I am so glad I went with the Wilson ones instead of the cheapo! They cost almost $1 more, but they were well worth it!
